At Student Housing Antwerpen (SHA), we make it easy for international students to feel at home — from the moment you apply, to the day you move in (and even beyond!).

What to expect before moving in?

Once you apply and receive confirmation, we will guide you through the full process, including:

• Signing your rental agreement digitally
• Paying your deposit and monthly rent from abroad
• Receiving your *check-in instructions* via email
• Asking any questions you might have — we’ve heard them all!

We’ll also send you a check-in blog post tailored to your residence, with practical info such as:

• What to bring (and what’s already in your room)
• How waste collection works in Antwerp
• Where to find supermarkets, public transport, SIM cards, etc. – Contact numbers in case of emergency

What about the rent and deposit?

• Rent is paid *monthly via bank transfer*
• A *fixed cost* is added for utilities: water, heating, electricity, internet
• A deposit of *2 months’ rent* is required before arrival – For *short stays*, different rates may apply – just ask!

Note: If you’re paying from a non-EU bank account, additional transfer fees may apply. These will be deducted from your deposit refund.

Registration in Belgium

We provide all documents you need to register at the City of Antwerp, including:

• Rental contract in English
• Proof of residence address
• Support with forms if needed

We also recommend you get health insurance and a Belgian SIM card — we’re happy to guide you!

Whether you’re coming from Brazil, India, Turkey, or Taiwan — you’re not alone! Every year, we welcome students from across the world. Don’t worry if:
